This question is often asked by those pursuing the EB-5 route to permanent residency in the USA, potentially it is a question that misses the point and has potential dangers attached to it.
For example let’s say a regional center offers a particularly high investment return – consider the following point.
You are applying for a visa that happens to be an investment visa. If that investment fails, or jobs are not created when you apply for your removal of conditions after twenty one month’s not only do you risk losing your money, but you and your family could lose their green cards and possibly even face deportation.
In solely focusing on the highest investment return you may have jeopardized your original purpose of choosing the EB-5 visa route, which presumably is to gain entry and remain permanently in the USA.
More cautious individuals usually focus on the likelihood of their green card being granted – then conditions being removed after two years (so you can stay in the U.S.A.) and at least the return of their $500,000 – rate of return is perhaps seen as a bonus not the deciding factor.
Sitting at your computer getting a headache trying to find as much information as possible on the EB-5 visa?
Looking for impartial information on regional centers can be so frustrating. Some centers promise you everything you are looking for, they seem to focus on how wonderful they are but don’t offer you any insight into possible negatives. Turning to immigrations attorneys can also be of limited help if they just provide bland legal details or the technicalities of the EB-5. In some countries you may even have come across consultants who you hope give impartial advice but are working directly with one of the centers, plus they often charge you a big fee!
The EB-5 visa can be an excellent option if you are looking for legal permanent residence in the U.S.A. but finding information from your viewpoint is fraught with danger. We have even come across many well meaning blogs from fellow EB-5 applicants that are unfortunately riddled with dangerous errors.
So much can depend on the decision you make regarding choice of regional center program – that decision can affect whether get your green card, whether you keep it, and whether you get your $500,000 back at some point in the future. Quite often one of the only effective methods of discovering the reality of what’s happening with a regional center is to visit it, but it’s pretty time consuming to visit any number of centers.

When looking for fast-track legal permanent residency (Green Card) in the United States via the EB-5 visa program, caution should be a critical consideration when selecting a specific regional center project for you to trust.
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services have approved a lot of regional centers which qualify for EB-5 investment status. On the surface this provides excellent choice but there are some pitfalls. Making the wrong decision on where to invest could result in a revocation of your green card status after two years and possibly a loss of your initial $500,000 or $1 million investment.
As potential EB-5 investors there are several things beyond a return on your investment to worry about. It is important to be certain that the investment does meet the qualifications set by USCIS; it must also result in the creation of at least 10 jobs.
The EB5 program can provide an excellent way to speed up your Visa status, and ultimately U.S. citizenship, but you need to take the time to educate yourself before moving forward. Making a $500,000 investment is a big undertaking no matter the circumstances.
You need to gain solid information about a number of factors before moving ahead. Some of the things to consider include which regional centers obtain green cards the fastest, which ones are offering a rapid return on investment and even which ones have a 100 percent rate of green card approvals.
The principals of Which EB5 are advocates of immigrant investors and have chosen to be independent by not representing any one regional center. They have worked with more than 900 families and more than 150 who have opted for a regional center program.
In an attempt to determine which is the most appropriate regional center program some families carry out due diligence with statistics.
The problem with statistics is they display data any way the supplying companies want. Are the centers with the highest number of approvals the best choice for you?
Statistics may give you the figures, they will not give you all the conclusions to draw from them.
For example, the statistics will not tell you:
• If the I-526 and/or I-829 approvals were for a particular project and the center now operates a different type of program.
• They will not tell you if USCIS has changed its perspective on the program for that regional center.
• The statistics will not tell you the likelihood or otherwise of investors getting their capital investment back from that center.
• They will not tell you the implications of most of the applicants coming from a particular country.
Statistics make up an element of your due diligence but they must be taken in context to have any value for you. If you want to know how and if the statistics you have are a contributing factor for you you can ask us questions via email at: info@whicheb5.com or by calling us at: +1-559-EB5-INFO

How do I ask a question when I don’t know what to ask?
We have been looking at the questions many EB5 visa applicants ask when trying to identify a shortlist of potential regional centers. As we said yesterday, even the simplest question can raise further issues if examined by a knowledgeable and experienced expert.
For example “is center Y a good choice, as it has sold out all of its projects so far”?
Again at first sight this seems a reasonable point, however it does raise several other questions all of which need proper consideration:-
Where did the investors come from? Are they all from one country, if so did they buy through agents based in that country, if so what may be the implications?
(Why EB-5 investors from one country may have a very different set of priorities to those of another country).
Did the project attract investors from the USA? if so What are the positive and negative implications?
How many other centers provided a viable alternative at this time?
These questions illustrate why a simple question and answer is not enough to base a conclusion – for further information on this important element of your decision contact WhichEB5
We have been looking at the questions many EB5 visa applicants ask when trying to identify their shortlist of potential regional centers.
The problem is even the simplest question can raise further issues if examined by a knowledgeable and experienced expert. For example, “I have heard center x is a good choice as it has achieved 100% success with all its I-526 and I-829 applicants so far”.
At first sight this seems a reasonable point, however it does raise several other questions all of which need proper consideration:-
How many other centers provided an alternative at this time?
Has this regional center program remained stable as the world economy has fundamentally changed in the past two years – will this impact the regional centers exit strategy?
Were the I-829’s for the same type of program it is presently offering?
Have funds been returned? if so how much? if not how much further away are these returns for its initial investors?
These questions illustrate why a simple league table of regional center I-526’s and I-829’s is simply not enough upon which to base your decision.

With the number of regional centers approved by USCIS expected to reach over one hundred in the next few months, there would seem to be a great choice of programs. However, all may not be as it seems.
The majority of potential EB-5 regional center applicants try to focus on three issues when selecting a program -
Will I get approval for my green card?
Will the required number of jobs be created in the time-frame demanded by USCIS, and what evidence is required?
What is the likelihood of a loss on my initial capital?”
In future blogs we look at the subtle dangers in these questions.
